Classification of Pharmaceutical Water and Water Quality Standards

1. Pharmaceutical water (process water: water used in the pharmaceutical production process, including drinking water, purified water, and water for injection) Classification:

1) PW: It treated by pretreatment filters, RO and EDI and proper disinfection way to control micro-organism. Purified water can be used as a solvent or test water for the preparation of common pharmaceutical preparations, and can be the source water of injection water.

2) WFI (Water for Injection): Purified water is used as raw water, distilled, condensed and cooled by a muti-effect distiller.

Water for injection can be used as a solvent for preparing injections.

Sterilized water for injection is used as a solvent for sterilizing powder or as a diluent for injection.
